About Serynn

Trust in hiring should be earned, not assumed.

Every hiring decision rests on what we believe to be true.

Serynn brings the signals, evidence and context behind an employment claim into view, so the people responsible can understand what needs attention and why.

A return to screening with a different perspective

Why Serynn exists

Steve Woodrough previously helped build and scale a business in the employment screening industry. After leaving the sector, he spent several years developing technology and building AI systems.

As generative tools made convincing employers, contact routes and documents easier to create, familiar screening problems began to look different. Industry experience and a technology perspective developed outside screening came together. Serynn began at that intersection.

How our name took flight

Serynn takes its name from the serin, a small yellow finch related to the Atlantic canary. The canary's role as an early warning gives the name a quiet parallel to our work: noticing a signal early enough for it to matter.

A signal is not a conclusion. It is a reason to look closer, with context, care and evidence. Ours is an origin story about awareness, not alarm.

Steve Woodrough

Steve brings more than 25 years of experience across software engineering, cloud architecture, information security and AI. He previously co-founded and served as CTO of an employment screening business, helping guide it from its earliest days through to a successful exit.

At Serynn, he is building practical, explainable source verification that supports human judgement and can be tested honestly with industry partners.

Meet us in person this autumn

Serynn. Trust, earned.

The first sign of risk is often small: an inconsistency, a gap or a detail that does not quite align. Serynn is being built to reveal that signal, explain the evidence behind it and make the next responsible action clearer.

Our immediate focus is source verification before conventional screening begins. We are developing it with industry partners who can test the evidence, challenge the method and help make it useful in practice.

Serynn is in development. The employer and reference-route check is going into controlled testing this autumn, with early pilots to follow.

Our purpose and ambition

Reveal. Connect. Assure.

Our ambition begins with a practical question: what does the evidence support? Today, our work starts before conventional screening, with the sources and documents behind an employment claim.

The next steps follow the same evidence: connecting screening across the providers a client already uses, and turning completed screening into a measure of how well it is carried out across an organisation. Both are being designed with the people who would rely on them, and neither is promised yet.

Purpose

Trust in hiring should be earned, not assumed.

Vision

Every hiring decision backed by measurable assurance.

Mission

Reveal hidden risk, connect screening evidence and turn it into consistent, measurable assurance.

Assured. Principled. Ingenious. Three traits that guide how Serynn builds, communicates and makes choices.

Assured, not absolute

We make risk clear with evidence, state what the evidence supports and remain open about uncertainty.

Principled, not preachy

We separate evidence from interpretation, protect candidate dignity and keep judgement independent of commercial pressure. The higher the consequence of a decision, the stronger the controls, review and human judgement around it.

Ingenious, not showy

We challenge fragmented ways of working by revealing a better method. The mechanism earns attention; it does not need hype.

Transparent

Show the evidence behind a signal, how it was assessed and where uncertainty remains. A finding needs an explanation.

Independent

Serynn is provider-neutral by design. Existing screening providers continue to perform the checks they already do well.

Human-centred

Signals prompt review, not verdicts. The employer retains the hiring decision and candidate dignity stays visible.
